The company was originally established in 1973, under the name of Theatre Developments (Pty) Ltd by an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Charl Grobbelaar and a mechanical engineer, Mr. John O’Toole. The primary function of the company was the design, development and manufacture of orthopaedic implants and associated instrumentation. 

At the end of 1999, after going through a few transitions, Elite Surgical Supplies (Pty) Ltd. was established with the same two innovators at the helm. Company Mission and Vision remained the same. 

Throughout the years Elite Surgical has achieved international manufacturing recognition through its groundbreaking contributions to Research and Development in Orthopaedics
